About Deloitte

Deloitte New Zealand is a prominent member firm of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited, a global professional services network with over 400,000 people in more than 150 countries.

Here in Aotearoa, Deloitte brings together more than 1700 people and is a leading provider of audit, tax, technology and systems, strategy and performance improvements, risk management, corporate finance, business recovery, forensics and accounting services. We also provide specialist services including China Services Group, Maori Services Group and Pasifika Services Group.

Like us, our clients are diverse, and include multinational corporations, government entities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and non-profit organizations. Together we use our extensive industry knowledge to provide tailored services to our clients and are committed to delivering high-quality, innovative solutions that help clients navigate complex business challenges and achieve sustainable growth for their businesses.

We have offices across New Zealand; Auckland, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Queenstown.

Our culture is built on inclusion, collaboration, high performance and opportunity. That combination helps our team make a difference individually and collectively. And it makes Deloitte one of the most rewarding places to work

Making an impact that matters

We are proud to be consistently recognised as a leader across the broad portfolio of professional services we deliver to our clients. Our key service lines include audit and assurance, consulting, financial advisory, risk advisory and tax and related services that span every sector and industry.

Whether it’s tackling cyber security issues or helping businesses transition to a low-carbon future, providing confidence to the market through robust audits, or using data to deliver new insights – we’re working to solve some of the world’s biggest challenges and make a positive difference to our clients, society and our world.

A message from Mike Horne, CEO

My number one goal as the CEO of Deloitte NZ is to grow a new generation of Kiwis, who like me will make Deloitte their family. I’m here to help develop and nurture the new talent coming through to be successful in their careers and in their lives. This can only help Deloitte, our clients and ultimately New Zealand.

Our commitment to ethics and integrity

When it comes to ethics and integrity, we aim for the highest bar. Our conduct and accountability have earned the trust of our clients, communities and our own. And maintaining that trust is our single most important responsibility.

We not only take care of our people, we take care of our planet and act on the change we want to see. Our vision connects commercial success to sustainable development, with goals that strengthen both business and humanity.

Our commitment to sustainability

We’re committed to supporting our clients in their transition to a low-carbon economy. This is our biggest opportunity to improve outcomes for our economy, people and the environment. Showing leadership in our own ESG practices enables us to show up to these conversations authentically.

So, at Deloitte New Zealand, we’ve put sustainability at the heart of our operations by embedding it into our policies, practices, and actions. We’re committed to Net Zero operations by 2025, and we’re empowering individuals to make smarter choices. We’re also making improvements at a systems level through collaborations like the Sustainable Business Council and Climate Leaders Coalition.

Our sustainability-linked loan underpins our commitments, by incorporating goals based on travel emissions reductions, and transition to renewable energy. Refer to the “Sustainable investment for the future” article in the governance section to learn more about how we are tracking.

Though our goals are ambitious, we’re taking positive steps and are aligned with WorldClimate – Deloitte’s strategy to drive responsible climate choices.

Empowering women in STEM

WorldClass is Deloitte’s global strategy to impact 100 million people by 2030 through educational programmes and partnerships. One of the ways we’re contributing is by working with others in Aotearoa to encourage and empower women and girls into STEM pathways.

The tech industry is growing and we need more people and more diverse thought leaders to support its needs. More female representation in STEM is essential to ensure future capacity, capability and successful growth in this area.

The shortage of women in tech roles is something TechWomen, a group of passionate tech, digital and ICT-focused individuals, is tackling with the support of NZTech. Deloitte New Zealand is a Foundation Partner. As an organisation with a strong contingent of women in technology roles, this creates opportunities for them to further develop their skills and help inspire young women to explore tech as a future career. For several years, our people have supported TechWomen initiatives such as Mentoring Circles and ShadowTech Day.

We look forward to strengthening our relationship with TechWomen over the coming years.

Tackling issues important to our clients

Ko nga take nui a te kiritaki hei whakatika ma matau

For us, the best leaders understand that we cannot achieve long-term economic sustainability at the expense of social cohesion. At any stage of your career, fully understanding how your organisation creates social, environmental and economic value is vital to success.

Legacy is important to me. I want to positively impact the people around me, my team, fellow partners, and clients so they all achieve their full potential.

Brett Tomkins, Partner, Risk and Reputation

We are about impact

Me whakaaweawe ka tika

Social impact is inextricably linked to sustainability – a sustainable future is one in which we have created lasting success that is inclusive for all, and reflects the symbiotic relationships we have with our environment. At Deloitte, our purpose statement guides us to give our people the mandate to align our economic and financial success with improving outcomes for our families, communities, and nations.

We are focused on helping our clients solve some of society’s most wicked problems – poverty, homelessness, supporting vulnerable families and enabling educational and economic achievement.
